Saher is a strategic EDI leader driving systemic change, with expertise in policy, governance, and empowering inclusive cultures across science, research, and charities.

Saher has with over two decades of experience in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), with a strong focus on advancing equity and well-being within academia. She has led transformative initiatives such as the Sanger Excellence Fellowship at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the UK’s first positive action Fellowship designed to support early-career researchers from Black-heritage backgrounds. Her expertise extends to designing national equity initiatives, including Project Juno at the Institute of Physics. Saher also serves as the Deputy Chair of the Athena Forum and leads strategic research equity work across multiple academic institutions and research bodies.
Saher’s expertise lies in developing practical policies, building inclusive cultures, and designing governance frameworks that deliver lasting impact. She has worked closely with senior leaders, influenced national frameworks, and delivered hundreds of workshops and talks—all with a focus on turning good intentions into measurable outcomes. She excels at strategy development and operationalisation, ensuring that equity and inclusion become embedded in organisational structures.
